Day 2: Yolyn Am (Lammergeier Valley) - Valley of Eagles & Ice Gorge Exploration

After a traditional breakfast with a local family at the hostel, we’ll begin our journey towards one of Mongolia’s most stunning natural wonders—the Yolyn Am (also known as Lammergeier Valley). This breathtaking gorge, nestled in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains of southern Mongolia, offers a unique mix of dramatic landscapes and a fascinating ecosystem.

Drive to Yolyn Am (Lammergeier Valley)

• Scenic Journey: We will travel through picturesque desert landscapes, gradually making our way to Yolyn Am, one of Mongolia’s most famous valleys, named after the Lammergeier, an Old World vulture that is commonly known as the Yol in Mongolian.
• Valley of the Vultures: This dramatic valley is often referred to as the Valley of the Vultures or Valley of the Eagles, a testament to the impressive birdlife that calls the area home.

Explore Yolyn Am - Ice Gorge & Nature Hike

• Ice Gorge: Yolyn Am is known for its Ice Gorge, a narrow passage between towering cliffs that remains filled with ice, even during the hot summer months. The contrast of ice in the middle of the Gobi Desert creates an incredible and rare sight, making this a must-see destination.
• Hiking in the Valley: We will take a leisurely hike through the valley to explore the ice gorge and admire the incredible natural scenery. The surrounding cliffs, lush vegetation, and unique wildlife make this a photographer’s paradise.
• Wildlife Spotting: Keep an eye out for the Lammergeier vultures soaring above, as well as other wildlife like marmots, wild sheep, and ibex that roam freely in the valley.

Optional Horseback Ride

• Horseback Riding Option: If you’d like to experience the valley from a different perspective, you have the option to ride a horse through this stunning landscape. Riding a horse through Yolyn Am will give you an authentic feel of Mongolia’s traditional nomadic lifestyle while offering a unique way to take in the beauty of the area.

Overnight Stay in a Ger Hostel

• After a day full of exploration, we will head to our Ger hostel for an overnight stay. Although this Ger does not have a shower, it provides a cozy and authentic Mongolian experience, where you can unwind after a full day of adventure.

Day Plan: Explore Khongoriin Els (Singing Dunes) in the Gobi Desert

After a delicious breakfast, we will drive towards the world-famous Khongoriin Els, also known as the Singing Dunes. Located in the heart of the Gobi Desert, Khongoriin Els is the largest sand dune system in Mongolia, standing at a height of 200 meters and stretching 12 kilometers wide and 100 kilometers long. This spectacular natural wonder is one of the must-see attractions in Mongolia and is renowned for its unique singing sands, a fascinating phenomenon where the wind creates eerie musical sounds as it moves across the dunes.

Upon arrival, we'll embark on a thrilling camel ride for 1 hours to experience the beauty of the Gobi Desert up close. This camel trek will allow you to explore the vast, wind-swept dunes and enjoy the serene landscapes of the Gobi Desert, an iconic desert adventure in Mongolia that should not be missed.

Afterward, we'll spend the night at a Ger Hostel — an authentic Mongolian experience with modern amenities like showers for your comfort. This will be a peaceful retreat after a day of exploration in the stunning desert.

ay Plan: Flaming Cliffs of Dinosaur Discoveries (Bayanzag)

Located in the Mongolian Gobi Desert, at the edge of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, you'll find the striking red sandstone cliffs known as Bayanzag, also called the Flaming Cliffs. These cliffs are famous not only for their vibrant, fiery red color but also for their rich paleontological history. The Flaming Cliffs were first discovered in 1922, when paleontologists uncovered dinosaur fossils in this region, making it one of the most significant dinosaur fossil sites in the world. The area is known for the fossilized remains of Saksaul trees, ancient flora that flourished during the time of the dinosaurs.

The Flaming Cliffs have since attracted numerous paleontologists and fossil enthusiasts from around the globe, eager to study the rich history preserved in the desert sands. Visiting this dinosaur site offers a chance to walk in the footsteps of these ancient creatures and explore the breathtaking landscape that has remained virtually unchanged for millions of years.

After exploring the Bayanzag cliffs, we’ll stay overnight in a Ger Hostel, providing a comfortable and authentic experience, complete with modern amenities like showers.

Day 5: Journey to the White Stupa (Tsagaan Suvarga)

After breakfast, we’ll drive to the stunning Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), located in Ulziit Soum, Dundgobi Aimag. This impressive and legendary cliff, shaped over millions of years, is one of Mongolia's most fascinating geological formations. Known locally as the White Stupa, it has been naturally eroded into spectacular, layered cliffs that tell the story of 10 million years of history.

The Tsagaan Suvarga is famous for its striking colors and the sheer slopes that face east, resembling the ruins of an ancient city from a distance. The cliff's multi-colored layers represent different periods in time, making it an exceptional natural landmark for geology and history enthusiasts alike.

Visitors to Tsagaan Suvarga will marvel at the view, as the cliff stands tall in the Gobi Desert, offering a breathtaking landscape. This site is a must-see for anyone interested in Mongolia’s natural wonders and geological history.

After exploring the White Stupa, we will spend the night in a comfortable Ger Hostel equipped with modern amenities like showers for your convenience.
